Do many guys get waxed? What do they wax?
In Halsted Street Beach first year of offering hair removal services, we performed around 1500 male wax treatments, of which the majority were backs, chests, butts, and Brazilians.
Our youngest waxing client is 16 and our oldest 68, so the range and reasons are diverse.
Why do People get waxed?
People usually get waxed to satisfy their sense of self-image, or because their partners prefer the smooth look. Waxing can also be cultural, attaching itself to certain professions, and not the ones you'd expect.
It's interesting to note that around half of Halsted Street Beach waxing clients are people in the public eye - teachers, policemen, firemen, doctors, lawyers, and other demographic groups.
You can't get much more mainstream than that.
How much does waxing hurt?
As a general guide, the feeling is like being slapped with a plastic ruler and fades quickly. Follow up treatments are gentler than the first, as the hair hasn't had time to fully develop.
As a general rule of thumb, the most tender areas on a guy are the chest, sides, belly, arms, and feet. Further down the list are the perineum and the base of the penis shaft.
Despite popular myth, the least tender area is definitely the bum crack. The bum cheeks, back and scrotum aren't too bad either.
If I get a Brazilian, will it increase sensitivity during sex?
Yes, dramatically. The difference is amazing.
I'm worried that I'll get aroused during my Brazilian treatment.
Don't stress. A degree of arousal is common when someone is working in the genital area, be it a doctor, a nurse, or a waxing therapist.
It has little to do with true arousal and more to do with adrenaline. In any case, once the waxing treatment begins, the sensation quickly passes.
The only thing you need to focus on is feeling comfortable with yourself, and that includes not beating yourself up over a reaction that's perfectly natural.
We'll do our best to preserve your modesty at all times.
Can I book a spray tan for after my wax treatment?
Only if you are in a rush for time. The after wax lotion will create a barrier between your skin and the tanning solution. Ideally you should leave the after wax lotion on, then come back in a day or two for tanning.
But we can clean you off with our cleaning spray and spray you but it will increase the chance of bumps on the waxed areas.
Can I go Tanning after my wax treatment?
Definitely not. You should avoid heat following a wax treatment and tanning gets you hot also avoid hot showers, saunas, whirlpools, etc. Also, some people like hot action tanning lotions which will inflame the skin after waxing. Leave 1 to 2 days between waxing and tanning.
